CRESTON — The Village of Creston Board of Trustees swore in new officials during its monthly meeting Tuesday evening. Former village trustee Tom Byro will take over as village president from Wayne Williams, while Jennifer Payton will succeed Deanne Haub as village clerk.
Curt Ward and Steve Katzman took their oaths to remain on the board. Byro then appointed Williams and Mark Hibshman to fill the two remaining trustee seats. Williams will take Byro’s vacated board seat, while Hibshman will replace Mike Misch, who resigned earlier this year.
“I’d like to thank Wayne for his time as village president,” Byro said. “We’ve moved along well and he’s done a good job. I appreciate him staying on the board. I also want to thank Deanne, who has been a rock for me. She’s done a lot for me and she’s done a lot that most people don’t know about. She’s helped this village along and I want to thank her for her service.”
Library
Village trustees approved the annexation and rezoning of land for the new Creston-Dement Public Library building, which will be located on the corner of Main Street and Cederholm Street. Construction on the $2.5 million project is expected to begin later this year.
