ROCHELLE — Village of Creston president Tom Byro handed the reigns to newly elected Wayne Williams Tuesday evening. Byro served two terms as president and held a trustee position since the 1980s.
“It’s been a good run, but it’s time for someone else,” Byro said. “Quite a few projects that were done, still more to do, but I’m sure the new board will take that over.”
Village Clerk Deanne Haub, returning for a third term, trustee Curt Ward and newly elected trustee Steve Katzman were also sworn in Tuesday evening. Ward has been a trustee since the mid-1990s.
As one of the first official duties as new president, Williams made a recommendation to appoint Tom Byro as trustee to serve out Williams term for the next two years. Village trustees, without objection, accepted the recommendation and Byro took his place as trustee shortly after pledging his oath to serve.
Employees reappointed include retaining village attorneys Tess and Crull, Kevin Bunge as engineer, and Kip Countryman as building inspector.
In other business, trustees approved an emergency purchase of a storm siren controller for approximately $2,300.
