Cross Country: Hernandez, Ortiz medal at Oregon Invitational

Rochelle harriers record top-15 finishes in varsity races

OREGON — The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub cross country teams raced at the Oregon Invitational on Saturday. The Hubs finished 12th out of 17 varsity teams with 330 points and the Lady Hubs landed in 13th out of 13 varsity teams with 285 points. The Rochelle harriers will continue their schedule with a quadrangular road meet at Sandwich on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Junior Luis Hernandez earned a medal to lead the Hubs in the varsity race, finishing 14th out of 138 athletes with a time of 17:50:09. Senior Thomas Koziol and freshman Declan McGee took 74th and 76th overall with respective times of 20:31.3 and 20:33.3. Other finishers include freshman Elijah Mayen (108th in 23:16.0) and sophomore Cash Budde (121st in 24:54.4).

Senior Yuelma Ortiz also received a medal to lead the Lady Hubs in the varsity race, taking 13th out of 110 athletes with a time of 22:21:09. Freshmen Rose Luxton and Mary Chadwick placed 87th and 88th with respective times of 28:50.7 and 29:00.09. Sophomores Bridgett Ramirez (100th in 31:15.4) and Aaliyah Losoya (109th in 33:50.9) rounded out the varsity team.
