OREGON — The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub varsity cross country teams faced off against Oregon, Newman Central Catholic and Amboy in a four-team, nonconference meet at Oregon Park West on Wednesday. The Hubs took third with 84 points, while the Lady Hubs also finished third with 51 points.
Senior Sara Johnson ran the fastest time for the Lady Hubs, placing fourth overall with a time of 22:43. Junior Yuelma Ortiz took fifth place overall with a time of 22:44, while senior Emily Garcia finished 18th with a time of 30:11.
Senior Josue Huerta and junior David Wanner led the Hubs on Wednesday, taking 13th and 14th with respective times of 20:28 and 20:32. Sophomore Parker Lenkaitis and senior Peter Forsberg placed 22nd and 24th with respective times of 21:26 and 21:51.
Saturday
Rochelle was one of 18 schools that competed in the Oregon Invitational at Oregon Park West this past weekend. The Lady Hubs finished 13th in the meet, while the Hubs placed 15th.
Junior Yuelma Ortiz led the Lady Hubs, placing 26th overall with a time of 22:35 while senior Sara Johnson finished 34th with a time of 23:17. Junior David Wanner paced the Hubs, taking 62nd overall with a time of 20:00 while senior Josue Huerta took 79th with a time of 20:43.
RMS XC
The Rochelle Middle School cross country team raced at the Oregon Junior High Invitational on Saturday. The Royals finished 14th overall, with Declan McGee clocking in at 11:35 to take 32nd out of 178 runners. Levi Waddle finished 51st with a time of 12:07, while Carol Carpenter placed 32nd with a time of 12:29 as Rochelle’s top girl in the meet.
