BYRON — Several runners on the Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub cross country teams took home medals from the Byron Invitational on Wednesday. Two Lady Hub athletes and five Hub athletes earned medals at the meet.
The Lady Hubs finished fourth out of seven schools with 116 points. Senior Sara Johnson and junior Yuelma Ortiz recorded top-10 medalist performances, with Johnson clocking in at 19:59 for sixth place overall and Ortiz taking eighth place with a time of 20:29.
The Hubs placed fifth out of seven schools with 112 points behind junior David Wanner (17:48) and sophomore Parker Lenkaitis (18:15), who finished 16th and 19th overall, respectively. Seniors Luke Orlikowski (20:22), Hayden Smith (20:39) Max Orlikowski (20:59), junior Amujin Purevdorj (22:01) and junior Avery Auld (22:20) all medaled in the open race for the Hubs.
