Cross Country: Rochelle runners medal at Byron Invitational

Hubs place second overall as Lady Hubs finish fourth

BYRON — The Rochelle cross country team competed in the Byron Invitational at the Byron Forest Preserve on Wednesday. The Hubs took second place in the varsity race behind senior Santi Cordoba, who finished 10th with a time of 16:50. The Lady Hubs placed fourth in the varsity race, with senior Britney Baez placing fourth in 20:06 to lead the team.

“Most of our athletes are continuing to improve,” head coach Mark Zilis said. “Many of them set new personal records, even when compensating for the slightly shorter course.”

Senior Tucker Louis placed 14th in the varsity boys race with a time of 17:39, while sophomore Josue Huerta took 15th in 17:43 and junior Aiden Seldal finished 20th in 18:22. Sophomore Sara Johnson took ninth in the varsity girls race with a time of 20:49, and sophomore Morgan West medaled in the open race with a time of 24:45.
