Cross Country: Rochelle runners open season at Sycamore Invitational
Hub and Lady Hub harriers compete at Kishwaukee College
MALTA — Kishwaukee College hosted the 2023 Sycamore Invitational on Tuesday evening. The Rochelle Township High School cross country teams competed in the event, with the fresh-soph Hubs finishing 10th while the fresh-soph Lady Hubs took fifth to open the season.
Senior Luis Hernandez finished 40th out of 146 varsity runners with a time of 17:40.90. Senior Caleb Wyssbrod took 109th with a time of 21:36.34 to round out Rochelle’s varsity athletes in the competition. Sophomore Annaliese Koziol led the fresh-soph girls Tuesday evening, placing 12th out of 74 runners with a time of 22:02.82 while sophomores Rose Luxton and Mary Chadwick landed in 41st and 51st place with respective times of 25:45.16 and 27:14.52.
Sophomore Declan McGee finished 10th out of 106 runners with a time of 18:33.87 to lead the fresh-soph boys Tuesday evening. Sophomore Elijah Mayen took 45th with a time of 20:12.44 and freshman Hadley Losoya placed 57th overall with a time of 21:02.69. The Rochelle teams will continue their season on Saturday, when the harriers race at the Oregon Invitational.
