Cross Country: Sophomores lead Rochelle at Oregon Invitational

McGee and Koziol record fastest times for RTHS teams

OREGON — The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub cross country teams raced at Oregon Park West on Saturday morning for the annual Oregon Invitational. The Hubs finished 17th out of 22 teams with 468 points in the varsity race and the Lady Hubs took 16th out of 16 teams in the varsity race. Rochelle will head to Peoria for the First to the Finish Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Sophomore Declan McGee led the Hubs in the 5,000-kilometer varsity competition, finishing 34th out of 160 runners with a time of 18:43.3. Sophomore Elijah Mayen took 92nd with a time of 20:43.5 and sophomore Levi Waddle placed 119th with a time of 22:37.6. Freshman Hadley Losoya rounded out the top four varsity runners for the Hubs, finishing 126th in 23:10.8.

Sophomore Annaliese Koziol led the Lady Hubs in the 5,000-kilometer varsity competition, taking 12th out of 122 runners with a time of 22:30.0. Juniors Brisa Zepeda and Bridgett Ramirez placed 92nd and 101st with respective times of 27:52.9 and 29:04.3. Sophomore Rose Luxton finished 73rd with a time of 26:00.0 to round out the top four Lady Hub runners.
