HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas — Dan L Gruben, 79, passed away Dec. 26, 2018 at National Park Hospital, Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Dan was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on May 15, 1939, to Bill Ed Robins and Lucille Jenkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Patricia (Gruben) Hunter and Victoria (Gruben) Stewart.
Dan is survived by his wife, Silvia, of 46 years; children, Tracy Kinney and Shelly Pond (Noel); brothers, John Gruben (Jonne) of Rochelle, Robert (Karen) Gruben of Rochelle, Carol Mifflin and Debbie (Bill) Hunley from Rochelle; grandchildren, Sarah Netherton (Brad), Brittany Morlan, Tierney Morlan; and great-grandchildren, Samuel Kinney, Kahlia Vaughn, Joshua Netherton, Mikaela Netherton and Daniel Netherton.
Dan loved riding motorcycles. He helped create and was a charter member of Chapter E Arkansas GWRRA. He also enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Mountain Valley Sportsman Club and a member of the NRA. He loved to travel and was a Patriot Guard Rider.
Dan was a member of the Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines Church. Dan had retired from a career in the U.S. Army and was an Honor Guard and member of the HSV VFW Post 10483 and American Legion Post 123.
Dan was a class member of Rochelle Township High School Class of 1958.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines Church with Pastor Bill Bailey officiating. A military interment will be held Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. at the VA Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines Church or the Garland County Humane Society, 1249 Ault Loop, Lonsdale, Arkansas 72087.
