ROCHELLE — Darrell G. Herrmann, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017. He was born on March 15, 1958 in Rochelle, the son of Vincent T. and Shirley (Gittleson) Herrmann.
Darrell graduated from Rochelle Township High School and then farmed with his brother, David.
He is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Gary Herrmann; and stepbrother, Buck Hoelzer.
He is survived by his siblings, Denny Herrmann of Rochelle, David Herrmann of Steward, and Dawn (Norm) Jenkins of Rochelle; nieces and nephews, Ali (Don) Harms, Eric (Jamie) Herrmann, Jennifer Jenkins, Taylor Jenkins, and Haley Herrmann; great-nephew, Colton Herrmann; step-siblings, Mike (Carol) Hoelzer, Sherry Hoelzer, Doug (Kelly) Johnson, Dorie (Mike) Golt, and Kyle (Lisa) Johnson; and his beloved dog, Cooter.
Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Unger Horner Funeral Home. Burial at St. James Cemetery in Lee. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
