DIXON — David G. Roether, 67, of Dixon, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. David was born on Jan. 3, 1950 in Ottawa, to James and Lillian Roether. He married Donna Cornett on Aug. 14, 1976 in Rochelle.
His father James Roether preceded David in death.
David was the owner of Smitty’s Sew-N-Vac in Sterling for 10 years. He was an avid fisherman. He also played bass guitar with local musicians specializing in country and western music.
David is survived by his wife, Donna Roether, of Dixon; his mother, Lilian Roether of Walnut; a brother, Lester (Betty) Burrows of Rock Falls; his four children, David (Tracy) Roether of Ottawa, Jolene Chandler of Holland, Mich., Danny (Kelli) Cornett of Belvidere, and Mandrell (Cathy) Cornett of Yellville, Ark.; 11 grandsons, and five granddaughters.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were handled by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.
