Deputies investigate several accidents

On Oct. 20 at approximately 3:39 p.m., a deputy performed a traffic stop in the 1400 Block of E. IL Route 72. After investigation, Cassandra Ruiz, 25, of Leaf River, was placed under arrest for No Valid Driver’s License. Ruiz was also issued a citation for Operating a Vehicle with an Expired Registration Sticker. Ruiz was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where she was held in lieu of bond.
On Oct. 20 at 9:32 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on a white GMC for a traffic violation. The traffic stop occurred on I-39 southbound at mile marker 108. After a short investigation, the driver of the vehicle Joseph Ziemienski, 38, of Milwaukee, Wis., was arrested for Driving While License Revoked. Ziemienski was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.
On Oct. 20 at 9:39 p.m. following a traffic stop on I-39, Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Eugene R. Jurasek, 58, of Rockford, for Driving While License Suspended. Jurasek was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
Oct. 21

On Oct. 21 at approximately 3:23 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle in the 4000 block of E. Flagg Rd. for a moving violation. After an investigation the driver, Robert Curatola, 30, of Rochelle, was arrested for Speeding, Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Cannabis (under 10 grams) and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Curatola was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held with no bond pending a court appearance.
On Oct. 21 at 3:57 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Third St. and Hill St. in Oregon for wires down. After a short investigation deputies arrested Chad Cherry, 42, of Lamoille, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Cherry was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
On Oct. 21 at 7:25 p.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Freeport and Sterling Rd. for a motorcycle accident with injuries. It was learned that the motorcycle was westbound on Sterling Rd. when the driver lost control in the gravel causing the motorcycle to roll, throwing the rider off the motorcycle. After a short investigation, deputies arrested Jared Pettenger, 28, of Tampico, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Pettenger was released at CGH Hospital on an I-Bond with a return court date on Nov. 17. Pettenger’s passenger was flown to Rockford Memorial by REACT for non life-threatening injuries. Deputies were assisted on scene by Polo Fire and Ambulance, Dixon Rural Fire, REACT Helicopter and CGH Ambulance.
On Oct. 21 at approximately 11:07 p.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 Block of West IL Route 64. After an investigation it was learned that the driver of the vehicle, Pawel J. Olesiak, 40, of Franklin Park, was driving with a revoked driver’s license. Olesiak was taken into custody and transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. John T’s towing removed the vehicle from the location.
Oct. 22
On Oct. 22 at 1 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to 151 Wayne Rd. for a domestic battery. After a short investigation, Nicholas Mendez, 20, of Rochelle, was arrested for Domestic Battery and Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol. Mendez was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
On Oct. 22 at 2:16 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies along with Mt. Morris Police and Fire responded to the 6000 block of West IL Route 64 for a two vehicle accident. It was learned that a 2016 Chevy pickup truck driven by Nicholas Dawtyne, 32, of Oregon, crossed the center line and struck head on a 2002 Ford pickup driven by Dave Johnson, 55, of Polo. Johnson was transported to KSB by Mt. Morris Ambulance for injuries sustained. Dawtyne was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
On Oct. 22 at approximately 3:41 p.m., an Ogle County Sheriff’s deputy performed a traffic stop at the intersection of IL Route 26 and Hillside Drive. After investigation, Jacob Gale, 24, of Polo, was placed under arrest for Driving While License Suspended. Gale was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
