ESMOND — Diane L. Johnson, 71, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin with her family by her side.
Diane was born on March 13, 1948 to Jean B. and Dorothy M. (Nawalaniec) Hutson in Woodstock. She graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1966, went to secretarial school and then began working for Fearer, Nye & Chadwick in 1967 and worked there until her retirement in 2017.
On April 18, 1970, she married Larry J. Johnson at the Rochelle United Methodist Church.  
Diane was a devoted member of the Esmond United Methodist Church, lay delegate to the annual conference of the UMC and member of the Esmond Women’s Society. She was very active over the years in Northern Illinois Tres Dias and cherished her weekly time with her reunion sisters. She loved spending time with her family and traveling with Larry especially their annual trips to Mexico.
Diane is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Larry of Esmond; two children, Jodi (Dan) Facchini of Chicago, and Jeromy (Kelly) Johnson of Decorah, Iowa; two sisters, Barb (Paul) Bearrows of Rochelle and Patricia Kromrie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two brothers, Craig Hutson of Elgin and Michael (Jennifer) Hutson of Rockford; and five grandchildren, Lexi, Mia and Rocco Facchini and Caleb and Kaya Johnson.
The visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 at the Esmond United Methodist Church, 675 Main St., Esmond, with Pastor Dave Rogula officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Greenview Cemetery in Esmond.  
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Diane’s memory to the Esmond United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
