A domestic disturbance that began in Byron this afternoon left the female victim in critical condition.
At 5:15 p.m., the Ogle County Sheriff's Department was called to the 8000 block of Winnebago Lane in Bryon in reference to a domestic dispute involving a stabbing.
The female victim was transported to a Rockford hospital by the Byron Fire Department and is currently listed in serious condition. The offender fled the scene prior to deputies arriving on scene.
The offender was later involved in a single vehicle accident in Stephenson County. He was transported to Freeport Hospital and flown to a Rockford hospital. His condition is unknown.
The Ogle County Sheriff's office was assisted by the Byron Police Department, the Byron Fire Department and Illinois State Police crime technicians.
