ROCHELLE — Donald S. Mattson, 93, of Rochelle, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at his home.
Born Nov. 28, 1923, in Malta, the son of Edvin and Mabel (Francen) Mattson, Donald married Patricia Karge, Beulah Carr in 1953, Elaine Oderkirk in 1987, and Imogene Pinkston in 1999.
Donald was a graduate of Malta High School Class of 1941. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in World War II. Donald was owner and operator of Mattson Trucking Company, a member of Malta United Methodist Church and the Malta Fire Department, and was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene; his children, Donna Garrison of Waterman, Patricia Bommorito of Bend, Ore., Katherine (Frank) Jouris of DeKalb, Victoria (Larry) Vint of DeKalb; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Shirley (Bobby) Kyler of Malta; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Beulah and Elaine; two sons, Ed Mattson and Fred Bond; one great-grandson, Ethan Rempfer; and his sister, Marie Quarnstrom.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 3 at Malta United Methodist Church, South 3rd and Sprague Streets, Malta, with Pastor Noah Panlilio officiating. Burial will follow at Malta Cemetery, with full military honors by DeKalb American Legion Post 66. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday, at the church.
