LASALLE — The Hubs varsity tennis team won both of its singles matches against LaSalle-Peru on Thursday, but the Cavaliers took all three doubles matches to defeat Rochelle by a final score of 3-2 and drop the Hubs to 2-4 on the season.
Senior Noah Griffith took down LaSalle-Peru’s Connor Cofoid in straight sets without dropping a single point, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Senior Kevin Zheng took down LaSalle-Peru’s Alex Newman at No. 2 singles in two sets as well, winning 6-3, 6-0.
LaSalle-Peru’s Jalen Depenbrock and Nate Newman defeated Rochelle junior Emilio Nava and sophomore Sean Flanagan at No. 1 doubles by a score of 6-2, 6-2. LaSalle-Peru’s Mat Carmean and Abhi Patel won over Rochelle junior Diego Lopez and Alexis Quintanilla in a close two-set match at No. 2 doubles (6-4, 7-6(2)) while LaSalle-Peru’s Ray Reed and Nolan Guthrie earned victory over Rochelle sophomore Gabriel Nava and senior Ozzy Fulgencio at No. 3 doubles 6-1, 6-0.
Rochelle will host Morris on Tuesday, April 24 at 4:30 p.m.
