Early voting numbers spike

ROCHELLE -— Early voters flocked to the Flagg Township building in Rochelle Wednesday, getting a jump ahead of next Tuesday’s election day.

Election judges said nearly 140 voters had done so by mid-afternoon Wednesday.

“We have had so many people come through already, which is unusual,” said Al Hann, election judge. “That is good to see.”

Early voting continues on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. Early voting is also available at the Ogle County Clerk’s office in Oregon until Monday.

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. for the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Wednesday was the last day for Illinois voters to request a mail-in ballot ahead of next Tuesday’s election.

Election officials said in order for the mail-in ballots to be counted, voters have to have the ballots back in the mail to the county clerk on or before Election Day.
