ROCHELLE — Lady Hub senior Carlie Elder rolled the highest series of the match between the Rochelle varsity girls bowling team and the Sycamore Lady Spartans at T-Byrd Lanes on Tuesday, but the purple and white couldn’t shoot past a tough Northern Illinois Big 12 opponent.
Elder finished the match with 645 over three games, but behind 630 from Megan Kolberg, 628 from Maddie Lathrop and 604 from Heather Carlson, the Lady Spartans defeated Rochelle 3,269-2,814 to drop the Lady Hubs to 1-3 on the season. Rochelle will face Sterling on the road Thursday.
Sycamore took the first game over the Lady Hubs 1,114-930, with three Lady Spartans topping 200 including Kolberg (222), Delaney Jones (221) and Lathrop (211). Elder bowled a game-high 242 to lead Rochelle, while senior Katie Dummer added 203 and senior Hope Palmer totaled 174.
The Lady Spartans won the second game 1,068-949 behind 218 from Kolberg and 213 from Lathrop. Elder’s 226 and Palmer’s 222 propelled the Lady Hubs in the second game, with Dummer adding 157 and junior Autumn Headon chipping in 146.
Sycamore defeated Rochelle 1,087-935 in the third game, with Carlson shooting 240 and Lathrop rolling 204 for the Lady Spartans. Dummer recorded Rochelle’s high score of 200 for a 560 series, and Palmer added 187 for a 583 series.
