ROCHELLE — Elementary teachers in outlying schools received some extra funding for their classrooms, thanks to employees at CHS Rochelle.
Lynn Smith, human resources coordinator, said the Rochelle facility raised $22,000 in proceeds from the charity golf outing.
“This year CHS Rochelle chose to support the teachers of Creston, Eswood, Kings and Steward school districts,” Smith said. “It is well known that teachers spend their own money to purchase educational school supplies for their classrooms. Because CHS is committed to giving back in support of local communities, each school is receiving $5,500 to split between the Kindergarten through eighth music, art and PE teachers. Most of the corn CHS Rochelle uses to make its ethanol comes from farmers in these four rural areas.”
During the check presentations, CHS staff presenting drawstring backpacks and water bottles to each of the students.
