SYCAMORE — Elinor R. Schreiber, 78, of Sycamore, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at her home.
She was born July 8, 1939, in Waterman, the daughter of the late Ralph and Helena (Burdick) Gibbons.
Elinor started her education in a one room country school and attended Sycamore and Rochelle high schools and Kishwaukee College. She married Randall Schreiber at the Victory Baptist Church in Fairdale. She had been a member of Victory Baptist Church in Fairdale. Elinor retired from Northern Illinois University after 20 years in food service. She enjoyed doing crafts, making quilts, camping and loved being with her family.
She is survived by her seven children, Teresa (Homer) Barefield of Capron, Diane (Darrell Ellett) Disch of Kirkland, Leon Jr. (Emma) Capes of Kingston, Daryl (Angie) Capes of Rockford, David (Kim Grimes) Capes of Galva, Daniel (Dawn) Capes and Timothy Capes, both of Belvidere; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Velma (Fred) Caudle of Waterman; one brother, Ronald (Phylis) Gibbons of Creston; one sister-in-law, Kathy Gibbons of Montgomery; and special friends, Shirley Maness of Sycamore and Vicki Zink of Savanna.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Randall; two brothers, Orland Gibbons of Indiana, and Lawrence Gibbons of Montgomery; and a special cousin, Paul Baker of Portage, Wis.
Elinor loved God and her goal in life was the hope of her heavenly home. She donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois to be used for science and medical research.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. Mark Chambers of Providence Baptist Church in Sycamore officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services, Saturday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home.
