CRESTON — The Ogle-Lee Fire Protection District was called for an out of control field fire in the 2500 block of Chamberlain Rd. in Creston at 1:20 pm on Sunday. The following departments responded to the fire:
The following departments responded to the fire: Ogle-Lee Creston, grass truck with 4 firefighters; Ogle-Lee Steward, engine and tender with 6 firefighters; Ogle-Lee Flagg Center, grass truck with 3 firefighters; Rochelle Fire Department, engine with 4 firefighters.
Approximately 25 acres of the field consisting of corn stubble was burned. The fire was extinguished using approximately 2000 gallons of water and hand crews. The fire appears to be caused by a prescribed burn on adjoining land northeast of the field. The prescribed burn became out of control due to wind conditions and spread to the adjoining property. No structures were damaged and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately two hours.
