SYCAMORE — The Rochelle fresh-soph football team continued its strong surge in the Interstate 8 Conference standings on Monday, defeating the Sycamore Spartans 50-28 and reaching 4-1 on the season. Rochelle will conclude its season with a home game against Ottawa on Saturday, April 24 at 10 a.m.
Sophomore Trey Taft ran for 187 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. Sophomore Cody Stover-Cullum shined on both sides of the football, rushing for 106 yards and three touchdowns while adding eight tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception on defense. Sophomore quarterback Hayden Inman ran for one touchdown and recovered a fumble.
Sophomore Kyce Jaradat led the Hubs on defense, recording seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Sophomore David Gerber added six tackles, with freshman Tommy Tourdot totaling five tackles in the Rochelle win.
