Football: Fresh-Soph Hubs shut out Johnsburg

Rochelle remains undefeated with 45-0 win on the road

JOHNSBURG — The Rochelle Hub fresh-soph football team remained unbeaten Friday evening, shutting out Johnsburg 45-0 to start the season with a 3-0 record and 1-0 record in the Interstate 8/Kishwaukee River Blue Division. The Hubs will host Byron on Friday at 5 p.m.

Sophomore Ethan Goodwin returned the opening kickoff for a 60-yard touchdown to ignite the fresh-soph team on Friday. Sophomores Brandyn Metzger and Jackson Smith each ran for touchdowns in the win, while freshman Roman Villalobos also rushed for a touchdown. Sophomores Carson Lewis and Cayden Moore connected for a touchdown reception.

Freshman Antonio Hueramo went 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts for the special teams unit. Sophomore Ryan Senne also blocked a punt and freshman Gabe Montes snagged an interception on defense. Metzger and freshman Markell Pogue each had a tackle for loss.
