Foundation for Focus House receives donation

Posted

Rochelle — Cheryl Lynn Eich, of Rochelle and Ashton, passed away on March 13, 2015 and designated in her will that the Foundation for Focus House receive a generous donation for use in programming.
Knowing of Ms. Eich’s passion for music and kids, the Foundation Board decided to use the bequest for a music program at the Focus House.
The music program originally began as a “Ukulele Project” sparked by a donation of two ukulele’s by a private donor and the interest and curiosity of a Focus House counselor, Becca Moser.

“The idea is that ukuleles are relatively easy to learn to play and are affordable, so the kids are more likely to continue with the hobby after they transition out of the Focus House,” Moser said.
Through the generous bequest from Ms. Eich, the Foundation has been able to purchase additional ukuleles, percussion, and other musical instruments to enhance the music program.  Lessons are taught once a week by Focus House staff and other Ogle County employees.
Foundation for Focus House Board of Directors is very thankful for her generous donation to support the kids of Focus House.
