ROCHELLE — The Ogle County Health Department will be hosting a free COVID-19 testing event for all this week at the health department’s Rochelle location.
Beginning Thursday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m., anyone wanting to receive a COVID test may do so at the Rochelle location, 510 Lincoln Highway (across from the Rochelle Post Office).
“Anyone that wants to be tested can come to the three-day event,” Ogle County Health Department Public Health Administrator Kyle Auman said. “We encourage those with symptoms, even if they think they are not COVID-19, to come and get tested. The event is free of charge and open to everyone, not just Ogle County residents.”

The drive-through and walk-up testing will be held Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Administrators advise that those in line at 5 p.m. will be tested. There is no cost for testing; however, for those who have insurance, bring your insurance card. Results will be available within four to seven days.
“Testing to understand the disease burden in the county and excluding sick people from the health population strengthens our efforts of masking, social distancing and hand washing,” Auman said. “Covid-19 is still prevalent in Ogle County and we need everyone’s help to keep our community healthy.”
Those being tested are reminded that they will have to quarantine while waiting for test results.
As of Wednesday, the county’s active positive cases totaled 104.
