ROCHELLE — Seeking to avoid a three-game losing streak, the Lady Hubs freshman softball team hosted the Yorkville Lady Foxes on Friday, with Rochelle falling by a final score of 16-1.
Kaytlin Neale took the mound for the Lady Hubs, firing a complete game and striking out two Yorkville batters. Anchoring the Rochelle offense on Friday were Hannah Luxton and Kaitlynn Ost, who each totaled two hits with Luxton driving in the team’s lone run.
Three girls notched one hit including Neale, Ally Reish and Viviana Belmonte, who scored on one of Luxton’s base knocks. The loss drops the freshman squad to 1-5 overall, and the girls will return to the diamond on Tuesday for another Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference game against the Sycamore Lady Spartans.
