STERLING — After falling in the first of its three-game set with the Sterling, the Hubs freshman baseball team hit the road and evened the series with the Golden Warriors, winning by a score of 14-3 to get back to the .500 mark at 8-8 overall.
Seth Gould pitched the first five innings for Rochelle, striking out six batters while walking just one and yielding three runs (zero earned runs). Ethan Etes finished the game on the mound, throwing two innings and striking out four and holding Sterling to zero hits.
Keegan Davis led the Hubs at the plate on Tuesday, going 2-for-5 with a team-high three RBIs while scoring two runs. Five Rochelle players drove in at least one run including Etes, Gould, Nick Albers, Charlie Jandak and Zack Capes. Albers and Austin Greifenkamp each crossed home plate twice in the victory.
The freshmen will face the Golden Warriors on Thursday to try and complete the series victory.
