ROCHELLE — The Lady Hubs freshman softball team hosted the Ottawa Lady Pirates for a doubleheader on Wednesday, with Rochelle falling in both games by respective scores of 17-4 and 12-3.

Kaytlin Neale took the mound to start the five-inning opener, nearly throwing a complete game before Maggie Williams entered in relief to close out the final frame. Neale doubled twice and scored one run, while Viviana Belmonte and Molly Irving each recorded RBIs. RuthAnne Gardner, Morelia Escutia, Jolissa Vega and Hannah Luxton notched hits in the loss.

Williams pitched the entire second game for the Lady Hubs, and she was one of three players to nail down two hits along with Gardner and Neale. Isabelle Marsh added one hit for the freshman team, which moves to 1-4 overall after Wednesday’s action.
