GENESEO — After suffering back-to-back losses to Sycamore and Ottawa in conference play, the Hubs freshman basketball team got back on track with a 52-47 victory on Monday against the Geneseo Maple Leafs, who Rochelle defeated 55-31 earlier this season.
Seth Gould and Austin Brown led the team with 17 points each, while Ben Hickey added eight points and Austin Greifenkamp chipped in six points. Parker Hale scored four points to round out the Rochelle squad on Monday.
“We struggled against their zone and we didn’t shoot the ball well in spurts,” head coach Ryne Vrana said. “Their trap at half court gave us some issues, but some big free throws down the stretch helped us seal the game.”
The Rochelle freshman B team also won on Monday by a score of 14-10, with Quinton Casey scoring six points and Milton Bueno adding four points. The A team is now 8-11 on the season.
