GENESEO — The Hubs freshman baseball team evened its overall record on the season Tuesday evening, beating the Geneseo Maple Leafs 19-13 after taking them down on Monday by a score of 12-2.
The two wins bump the freshmen up to 5-5 on the season, and they will play Geneseo on the road Thursday to try and complete the conference sweep.
Monday
Eleven of Rochelle’s 12 runs came in the first three innings, and while the Hubs were doing damage with their bats, Nolan Andersen kept Geneseo at bay on the mound, throwing all five innings and striking out eight batters while walking just one. Nick Albers totaled a team-high three hits at the top of the Rochelle order, scoring three runs in the process.
Ethan Etes, Kaleb Hess and Andersen each recorded two hits, with Andersen driving in a team-high three runs and both Hess and Etes notching one RBI. Seth Gould added two RBIs, while Devlen Buh and Keegan Davis each added one RBI.
Tuesday
Charlie Jandak had a monster performance at the plate on Tuesday, going 5-for-6 with five RBIs to lead Rochelle over Geneseo in a wild affair. Andersen went 4-for-6 with three RBIs, and Etes went 3-for-5 while also driving in three runs.
Gavin Ansteth recorded two RBIs at the top of the batting order while also recording the win on the pitcher’s mound. Ansteth threw three and one-third innings while striking out seven batters.
