DIXON — On Friday afternoon, Brad Fritts of Dixon announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Representative in the 74th district on the Dixon waterfront.
The newly-redrawn 74th legislative district will include parts of Lee, Whiteside, Ogle, DeKalb and LaSalle Counties.
Current State Rep. Tom Demmer has announced he will be forgoing re-election to instead run for state treasurer.
Fritts has lived in Illinois for 22 years. He said his priorities include rebuilding infrastructure, properly funding the public school system, fiscal responsibility, supporting law enforcement, fighting for term limits, ending gerrymandering, instituting mental illness and addiction programs, prison reform to slow incarceration and investigating corruption and holding those responsible accountable.
“It is time to make this state a home we are proud of and a home to brag about again,” Fritts said. “I realize this is an aggressive agenda. The journey will not be easy, and it will not happen overnight. However, this fight starts today by working to elect me as your next State Representative.”
