Fundraiser to benefit cancer society

ROCHELLE – For the third year in a row, Tracy Vargen and Sarah Hogan will be hosting a Breast Cancer Fundraiser.
The “Girls Night Out Fundraiser” will be a night to remember. Local vendors will be showcasing talents. Ladies who attend will have the opportunity to shop for various items such as decorative boards, knitted stocking caps, handmade hair bows, natural beauty products, jewelry and more.
All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk that will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Rock Valley Community College. Vargen and Hogan have raised approximately $16,000 over the past two years. They were recognized as pacesetters at the 2016 and 2017 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

“While we were going through our breast cancer treatment, we had so many people who were there supporting us which helped make things manageable,” Vargen said when asked why they got involved with the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. “Not everyone has that support. The funds raised by the American Cancer Society helps to provide resources and support to people who are in need. It helps people get through their diagnosis and subsequent treatment.”
The “Girls Night Out Fundraiser” will take place on Thursday, Sept. 13 in the banquet room at Salt 251 in Rochelle. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. Each ticket costs $40.
Participants will be able to enjoy light appetizers and desserts while having numerous chances to win prizes. There will be a cash bar as well.
Burn n Bush will be playing in the bar at Salt 251 starting at 7 p.m. For more information or to sign up and/or donate to the event, contact Hogan or Vargen at followyourarrow815@gmail.com.
