PRINCETON — Senior Jasmin Galvan notched her first singles victory of the 2017 tennis season when the Lady Hubs took on the Princeton Tigers Thursday evening.
Galvan defeated Princeton’s Emma Proffitt at No. 1 singles in a thrilling three-set match by a score of 6-3, 5-7, 12-10. But the Lady Hubs were unable to lock down any additional wins, and the Tigresses emerged victorious at the varsity level by a score of 4-1. Senior Raquel Montelongo took the court for Rochelle in No. 2 singles, falling 1-6, 1-6 to Princeton’s Allison Blocki.
Seniors Alex Nava and Marissa Belmonte teamed up to face Maddie Eckard and Mary Jeanne Brown, with Princeton’s duo topping Rochelle’s pair at No. 1 doubles, 7-5, 6-3. Tigress players Alexis Borg and Julia Hochstatter defeated Lady Hub senior Lillian Fulgencio and sophomore Kate Monfils at No. 2 doubles (6-2, 6-1), while Kylee Mallery and Alexanderia Borys took down Rochelle junior Lila Roush and senior Anahi Calderon at No. 3 doubles (7-5, 6-0).

The Lady Hubs junior varsity tennis team fell to Princeton on Thursday by a score of 5-0. Mindy Pelayo and Melanie Gonzalez represented Rochelle in singles, with Pelayo going down at No. 1 singles (8-3) and Gonzalez falling at No. 2 singles (8-2).
Ashlynn Leininger and Jasmine Rissman fell by a score of 0-8 at No. 1 doubles, with Caitlin McMurray and RuthAnne Gardner fighting hard but dropping their match at No. 2 doubles, 5-8. Charlotte Laukel and Paige Rowland also played a close set at No. 3 doubles, losing by a score of 5-8.
