CRESTON — Creston trustees approved a proposal for garbage and recycling services with Northern Illinois Disposal during their monthly meeting Tuesday evening.

The new monthly rate, effective July 1, will be $14.50 with a 2 percent increase in years two through seven. The new proposal includes delivery of a 95-gallon cart for each resident for weekly service and a 65-gallon cart for bi-weekly recycling service. In addition, yard waste service will be available every other week, scheduled on the same day as recycle pick-up.

Residents are advised they can use a standard garbage can and indicate with an “X” using tape or spray paint for their yard waste.

Trustees also approved bids for a lift station generator and additional sewer pump repairs with Engel Electric out of Sterling at a cost of just under $15,000.

Trustees adopted an ordinance regarding the village’s investment policy, which indicates principles to be followed.

Trustees discussed the sewer maintenance contract with Rochelle Municipal Utilities. No action was taken.
