ROCHELLE — Rochelle Township High School starts homecoming week with plenty of activities planned.
This year’s Homecoming Dance is on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 8 to 11 p.m. in the RTHS commons with the theme, “A night around the world.”
Students are encouraged to participate in Spirit Week, Monday through Friday — Millennium Monday, Tacky Tourist Tuesday, Character Day, Favorite Team Day, and on Friday is Senior Togas/Class Colors day:  freshman white, sophomores grey, juniors and staff purple, and seniors wear black.
On Thursday at 6 p.m., the parade starts at City Hall. Karen Toohey, RTHS Math Teacher is the parade’s Grand Marshal. The route heads south, then east on Fourth Avenue, north on Lincoln Highway through the downtown, west on Sixth Avenue, north on Ninth Street to Tenth Avenue and ends at Tilton School. Students will be bused back to RTHS.
The Powder Puff football game starts at 8 p.m. that evening in the stadium.

Game night
Before the big game Friday, the RTHS Alumni band reunion will perform. The pregame performance follows the sophomore game at 6:45 p.m. The band will perform during the varsity game after each HUBS touchdown.
The VFW Post 3878 will be on hand to present colors. The Grand Marshal and Homecoming Court will be announced between the sophomore game, which begins at 5:15, and the varsity game, beginning at 7 p.m.
