ROCHELLE – Women of Rochelle, come out to the First Presbyterian Church this Friday, June 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., to meet other women in the area, see how to get involved in local organizations and to listen to multiple guest speakers. The event is titled “Get Plugged In: Building Life Together,” and is put on by the Rochelle Area Women’s Connection.
“We are a group of women who put on events all year,” said Lisa Dyer, Co-chair of the Rochelle Area Women’s Connection. “We bring women together, have evenings of fun and offer free child care.”
This event focuses on women finding a place to fit in within the community and will feature many guest speakers. One speaker from Iowa will be talking about how she escaped her busy household to enjoy the community, others will be speaking about the Kids Ground rebuild or rescue missions. The main goal is to bring women together and show them they are not alone.
“It is hard to know where to volunteer, but we can bring women together and get a group effort. Because volunteering is much easier to do with friends,” explained Dyer.
This is the first “Get Plugged In” event, but the Rochelle Area Women’s Connection hosts events quarterly. Previous events include: ladies pampering evening, a community baby shower and a jewelry exchange where people bring in their jewelry and bring home someone else’s. No matter the event, the group hopes people will continue attending.
“People can either just show up or RSVP, we just hope people keep coming back,” expressed Dyer.
Admission to the event is $5, for more information visit the Rochelle Area Women’s Connection Facebook or contact Susan at 815-501-9097.
