ROCHELLE — Get the Aqua Net and the powder blue tux ready — it’s almost Retro Prom time.
The Rochelle Township High School Education Foundation is hosting the retro adult prom, “One More Night,” on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.
The 21 and older event will be held at the Bearrows Auction Building on East Fowler Road in Rochelle and includes dinner, DJ, karaoke, and a raffle.
Organizers said the retro prom idea was given with a little help from the community.
“We asked the community for ideas and this was one of them. We thought we would try something totally out of the box and see how it goes over,” said Angie Seldal, RTHSEF member. “We are very fortunate to have so much support from the community.”
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event will continue until 11 p.m. Tickets are $30 or $50 per couple and include a Hicks BBQ pulled pork sandwich, chips and coleslaw. Tickets are available to purchase at RTHS, Holcomb Bank, Salina’s Chiropractic, and The Rack.
“We are hearing a lot of positive feedback about the event — it’s different and fun! We are encouraging everyone to attend in prom attire, however it is not required,” said Kari Andrist, RTHSEF member.
Several area businesses have donated items for the community raffle basket including T-Byrds, Glo Wellness, Lifeworks, Hope Chest, Flight Deck and Hoppers Poppers.
“We are just very thankful for all the support of the small businesses that we know are asked relentlessly but they always support the cause and we appreciate it,” Seldal added. “We are hoping to see lots of fun outfits from the past. It’s certainly not required but will be so fun to take a step back in time for a night and have a great time.”
