The Rochelle Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team finished third in the NCJC Tournament, defeating Belvidere Central 28-18. The A team finished 12-9 on the season and the B team finished with a record of 10-5.

BELVIDERE — The Rochelle Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team finished third in the NCJC Tournament, defeating Belvidere Central 28-18. The A team finished 12-9 on the season and the B team finished with a record of 10-5.

The A team also finished fifth place at the Oregon Tournament. The A team was lead this season by Sydney Tabor and her tremendous defense. Kara Martinez, Hayvin Neale and many others help contribute on the offensive side of the game for the Royals. The A team includes Addison Stewart, Sydney Tabor, Haley Bozinovich, Hayvin Neale, Bailey Vondergathen, Megan Seebach, Kara Martinez, Najat Abdallah, Gisele Vidals, Rachel Cook, Lizze Reyes, Annaleigh McKinney and Kylie Smith.

The B team was led by Kylie Smith and Sara Weston on the offensive side of the ball and Gisele Vidal’s and McKenna Cook’s defensive effort helped the Royals reach 10 wins this year. The B team includes Sarah Weston, Kylie Smith, McKenna Cook, Bianca Bautista, Maddie Aylsworth, Ayla Walker, Dakota Bushland, Tatiana Lorenzo, Elyssia Martinez and Victoria Sheehy.
