ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Lady Hub JV basketball team faced Sycamore for its Interstate 8 Conference opener Tuesday evening, falling 32-23 despite outscoring the Spartans 8-7 in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Bailey Jackson led the Lady Hubs with eight points, while sophomore Torrin Nantz recorded seven points and freshman Alivia Henkel added six points.
Sycamore took a 9-4 lead after one quarter and held a 16-9 lead at halftime. Rochelle made two baskets in the first quarter including a layup from Jackson and another from Nantz with an assist from Henkel. Jackson sunk two more baskets in the third quarter, while freshman Sydney Tabor added one basket for two points. Jackson led all Lady Hub players with four field goals.
The JV Lady Hubs (0-1) will play their next game against LaSalle-Peru on the road Friday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m.
