Girls Basketball: RMS seventh-graders take fourth at NCJC Championship

Rochelle knocks off DeKalb Huntley in first round
SYCAMORE — The Rochelle Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team took fourth place in the NCJC Championship tournament over the weekend.
The Royals opened the tournament with an upset over No. 3 seed DeKalb Huntley, winning 34-25 behind a 23-point performance from Audrina Rodriguez, who converted a key 3-pointer late in the game. Gianna Olguin chipped in six points for the Royals, while Madison Ludwig and Carol Carpenter each totaled four points in the win.
Rochelle battled Kaneland Harter in the semifinal round, falling 21-16 in a defensive standoff. Audrina Rodriguez scored seven points and Gianna Olguin followed with five points for the Royals, who fell 15-12 in the third-place game to finish the tournament in fourth place.
