ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity bowling team battled Belvidere in nonconference action Wednesday evening, hanging tough over all three games but falling short in a 2,693-2,548 loss. Sophomore Cassidy Vincent led the Lady Hubs (6-5, 5-3 Interstate 8) with a 539 series, while freshman Kylie McCullough added a 471 series in the match. Rochelle will host another nonconference match against Streator on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Belvidere edged the Lady Hubs 876-845 in the first game to take the series lead. Mia Quintero led the Bucs with a 179, while Vincent fired a 161 and junior Makenzie Liezert added a 151 for the Rochelle side. Belvidere extended its series count with a 899-817 win in the second game, where Riley Freeman shot a 181 for the Bucs. Vincent's 169, McCullough's 163 and a 149 from junior Anahi Alanis were the top scores for the Lady Hubs in the second game.
Belvidere clinched the series sweep with a 918-886 victory in the third game, where Eliza Guarnevcia recorded a 192 for the Bucs, who saw five of their six starters finish with 400-plus series scores. Vincent rolled her series-best 209 in the third game, while McCullough added her series-best 170 and junior Faith Adams fired a series-best 171. Adams ended the evening with a 427 series for the Lady Hubs.
