Girls Bowling: Rochelle honors seniors against Oregon

Headon sisters, Hambardzumyan recognized before match with Hawks

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle varsity girls bowling team recognized its three senior players before taking the lanes for its nonconference match against Oregon on Thursday. Four-year bowler Autumn Headon as well as two-year player Aubrey Headon and foreign exchange student Kristine Hambardzumyan were honored as this year’s seniors.

“I’ve enjoyed having the girls here and I think they’ve been very consistent,” head coach Joey Johanning said. “They work off of each other and they really know how to pick the other girls up. It’s been a blessing having them as a part of our program.”

Oregon defeated Rochelle 3,068-2,002 to drop the Lady Hubs to 0-11 overall. The Hawks took the first game 1,004-604 behind 240 from Sammantha Meyers and 209 from Alysa Conley. Freshman Alyssa Mickley led Rochelle with 151 in the opening game.

Oregon topped the Lady Hubs 1,020-683 in the second game, with Rebbeca Meyers shooting 244 for the Hawks. Mickley recorded 182 for Rochelle, while Autumn Headon added 139 and freshman Alyssa Schwanert rolled 122.

The Hawks completed their series sweep with a 1,044-715 win in the third game. Rebbeca Meyers shot 237 to finish with a 654 series, while Mickley bowled 170 for a 503 series on the Rochelle side. Autumn Headon recorded 162, with Schwanert totaling 148.
