The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity bowling team hosted a nonconference match against Belvidere on Tuesday, falling 2,453-2,201. Rochelle faced the Sycamore Spartans on the road Wednesday afternoon, falling 2,949-2,358 despite a 527 series from senior Anna Samo.

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity bowling team hosted a nonconference match against Belvidere on Tuesday, falling 2,453-2,201. Senior Anna Samo rolled a 471 series for the Lady Hubs (4-5, 3-3 Interstate 8), while freshman Cassidy Vincent totaled a 437 series.

Belvidere topped Rochelle 734-685 in the first game, with Samo shooting 163 to lead the Lady Hubs. The Bucs edged the Lady Hubs 773-763 in the second game behind 160 from Karah Hook.

Hook followed with 188 in the third game to finish with a 473 series and lift Belvidere over Rochelle 946-753. Eliza Guarnaccia fired 198 for the Bucs, while Vincent scored 167 and Samo rolled 157 for the Lady Hubs. Riley Freeman added 179 for Belvidere to record a 461 series.

Sycamore

The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity bowling team faced the Sycamore Spartans on the road Wednesday afternoon, falling 2,949-2,358 despite a 527 series from senior Anna Samo. Freshman Cassidy Vincent added a 458 series for the Lady Hubs (4-6, 3-4 Interstate 8).

Sycamore took the first game 854-732, with two players shooting 169 including Maxine Lathrop and Brandi Stover. Samo fired 178 to lead the Lady Hubs, while Vincent followed witih 136.

The Spartans surged ahead in the second game, winning 979-834 behind Kiki Wittenberg’s 183 and 174 from both Stover and Kayla Cranden. Samo scored 180 for the Lady Hubs, while Vincent and sophomore Faith Adams followed with scores of 151 and 145, respectively.

Sycamore completed the sweep with a 1,116-792 win in the third game. Wittenberg rolled 237 to finish with a 535 series and Lathrop scored 197 to end the evening with a 515 series. Vincent’s 171 and Samo’s 169 were the high scores in the third game for the Lady Hubs.
