Girls Soccer: Lady Hubs outlast Morris in PK shootout

Lara nets deciding score as Rochelle edges Redskins 2-1

MORRIS — For the second time this season, the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity soccer team went into a penalty-kick shootout to decide an Interstate 8 Conference match. For the second time this season, Rochelle emerged victorious, with the Lady Hubs edging Morris 3-2 in the shootout Monday to win the match 2-1. Freshman Makayla Lara converted the deciding penalty kick.

Rochelle (5-7, 4-2 Interstate 8) outpaced Morris 17-9 in shots and 8-6 in shots on goal. The Lady Hubs scored first, with Lara netting an unassisted goal during the 19th minute. The Redskins answered with the equalizer just before halftime, converting during the 39th minute. Both teams were held without a goal in the second half, leaving the score tied after regulation.

Lara totaled five shots and four shots on goal for the Lady Hubs, while senior Madison Ost recorded three shots and two shots on goal. Sophomore Danica Ward finished with five saves.
