The Lady Hub varsity soccer team faced Ottawa on the road Wednesday, falling 5-0 to move to 0-5 on the season. Rochelle outshot the Pirates 11-10, but Ottawa put nine shots on goal while the Lady Hubs totaled only three shots on goal. Freshman Danica Ward had four saves.

OTTAWA — The Lady Hub varsity soccer team faced Ottawa on the road Wednesday, falling 5-0 to move to 0-5 on the season. Rochelle outshot the Pirates 11-10, but Ottawa put nine shots on goal while the Lady Hubs totaled only three shots on goal. Freshman Danica Ward had four saves.

Ottawa took the early lead in the first half, scoring in the seventh and ninth minutes to go ahead 2-0. While another goal in the 18th minute made it 3-0 Pirates, Rochelle stopped Ottawa over the final 20-plus minutes of the first half.

The Lady Hubs held the Pirates at bay for nearly 20 minutes to open the second half, but Ottawa built on its lead with goals in the 52nd and 57th minutes, sealing the Pirate victory. There were minimal corners in Wednesday's game, with Ottawa totaling two and Rochelle finishing with one.

Sterling

Rochelle continued its busy week with a nonconference road match against Sterling on Thursday. The Golden Warriors bested the Lady Hubs 6-0, dropping Rochelle to 0-6 on the season. Sterling outshot the Lady Hubs 23-9 and held a 22-4 advantage over Rochelle in shots on goal. Freshman Danica Ward recorded 16 saves in net for the Lady Hubs.

Rochelle played solid defense for about 25 minutes, holding the Golden Warriors scoreless before Sterling broke the game open with goals in the 24th and 27th minutes. Leading 2-0, Sterling added to its lead early in the second half, scoring in the 44th and 48th minutes. The Golden Warriors sealed the victory late in the second half with goals in the 61st and 76th minutes.
