Rochelle senior Vianey Perusquia will be continuing her athletics and academics at Kishwaukee College next year, signing with both the Kougar women’s soccer and basketball programs.

Perusquia has spent four years with the Rochelle Lady Hub soccer team including two years as a varsity starter during her freshman and sophomore seasons. A versatile midfielder and forward, Perusquia totaled four assists and two goals as a sophomore after finishing with three assists and one goal as a freshman. Perusquia, who played basketball at RTHS for two years, will be a leader for the Lady Hub soccer team when the season kicks off this month.

“Playing soccer and basketball at RTHS has helped me learn how to never give up,” Perusquia said. “Whether it was the conditioning or improving my technique, my coaches have always been there to help me reach my full potential and realize how much potential I have. I’m looking forward to competing at the college level because I like challenging myself and improving as a player and as a teammate. I believe there’s always room to improve.”

Perusquia said she plans to study sports medicine in hopes of becoming an athletic trainer. The Lady Hub senior will compete for a midfield or defensive role with the Kishwaukee College women’s soccer team as well as a role in the backcourt with the Kougar women’s basketball team. Perusquia said she will enjoy staying close to home and continuing her athletics.

“I hope to bring an ability to see the field and an ability to connect with teammates on and off the field,” Perusquia said. “I want each team to know that I have a lot to bring in terms of my dedication, my work ethic and my effort. I hope those factors will inspire my future teammates to do the same and I know that we’ll become a family in the end.”
