Dickey, McGee earn lone match win in 4-1 loss to Foxes

ROCHELLE — Freshman Jordin Dickey and sophomore Sawyer McGee earned their second doubles victory in three matches when the Rochelle varsity girls tennis team faced Yorkville at home on Monday.

Dickey and McGee took the court at No. 3 doubles, defeating Yorkville’s Bea Strebel and Madi Branford in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) to score Rochelle’s lone point in the team’s 4-1 loss against the Foxes. Seniors Jasmine Rissman and Ashlynn Leininger hung tough at No. 1 doubles, taking Lexi Roehr and Emma Lacy three sets before falling 3-6, 6-4, 7-10.

Freshmen Josie Lundquist and MeLisa Young played a close first set in their 5-7, 1-6 loss to Yorkville’s Makaylee Clements and Loren Wood at No. 2 doubles. Junior Ruth Gardner fell 0-6, 0-6 to Ashley Hatch at No. 1 singles while sophomore Melanie Gonzalez lost 0-6, 0-6 to Sarah Pankow at No. 2 singles. Rochelle (1-12) will host Aurora Central Catholic on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Yorkville won the junior varsity match over Rochelle 3-1. Emma Hicks and Anna Guevara each lost 3-8 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, while Riley Flanagan and Ella Seebach took two games in their 2-8 loss at No. 1 doubles. Alyssa Mickley and Yoana Fulgencio defeated Alana Bureger and Lizzy Taylor 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
