FREEPORT — The Lady Hub tennis team played its final regular season match Tuesday afternoon, falling 4-1 against the Freeport Pretzels in nonconference action to end the 2020 campaign with a 6-12 record. Rochelle will host the IHSA 1A Sectional on Friday.
Juniors Megan Thompson and Josie Lundquist teamed up to score one point for the Lady Hubs, defeating Freeport’s Caroline Helms and Angelina Wolford 8-4 at No. 3 doubles. Senior Anna Guevara fell 2-6, 0-6 against Pretzel netter Anika Foster at No. 1 singles, while junior Emma Hicks fell 3-6, 0-6 against Freeport’s Kyla Plowman at No. 2 singles.
Juniors Jordin Dickey and MeLisa Young battled in a close two-set match with Amiah Misek and Reese Coon at No. 1 doubles, coming up short 6-7, 3-6. Senior Sawyer McGee and junior Sylvia Hasz faced Addi Gitz and Kennedy Spachman at No. 2 doubles, falling 3-6, 2-6.
