The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity tennis team won two matches against Streator in nonconference play on Monday, coming just short in a 3-2 loss to drop to 3-6 on the season. Seniors Jordin Dickey and MeLisa Young cruised over Syria Zuniga and Charlie Bourell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while seniors Josie Lundquist and Megan Thompson held off Brianna Janke and Ebony Pickens 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

STREATOR — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity tennis team won two matches against Streator in nonconference play on Monday, coming just short in a 3-2 loss to drop to 3-6 on the season. Seniors Jordin Dickey and MeLisa Young cruised over Syria Zuniga and Charlie Bourell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while seniors Josie Lundquist and Megan Thompson held off Brianna Janke and Ebony Pickens 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Junior Abby Tarvestad and senior Ashley Knight battled Marissa Vickers and Franchesca Rodriguez at No. 3 doubles, taking the match three sets but falling 4-6, 6-0, 8-10. Senior Madison Ost took five games in a 3-6, 2-6 loss against Claire Vogel at No. 1 singles, while senior Ella McKinney went three sets with Lucy Zavada at No. 2 singles, falling 4-6, 6-0, 6-10.

Sterling

The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity tennis team battled Sterling on the road this past Thursday, falling 4-1 and dropping to 3-5 on the season. Seniors Jordin Dickey and MeLisa Young scored one team point at No. 1 doubles, outlasting Layla Tublante and Anna Meltzer 6-2, 0-6, 10-7.

Senior Emma Hicks fought against Ellie Aitkin at No. 1 singles, taking six games in a 3-6, 3-6 loss. Senior Madison Ost earned two games in a 1-6, 1-6 loss to Jenica Francis at No. 2 singles.

Seniors Josie Lundquist and Megan Thompson played a close match with Sam Feather and Madison Hubbs at No. 2 doubles, nearly winning the first in a 5-7, 2-6 loss. Junior Abby Tarvestad and senior Ashley Knight fell 2-6, 1-6 to Irene Hilty and Tori Ardvini at No. 3 doubles.

The Rochelle Lady Hub fresh-soph tennis players competed at the Princeton Fresh-Soph Invitational on Saturday, with sophomore Elin Zheng finishing first in the No. 1 singles competiton.
