Girls Tennis: Lady Hubs fall at Geneseo


Maple Leafs defeat Rochelle varsity team 5-0

GENESEO — The Rochelle varsity girls tennis team traveled to Geneseo on Tuesday for a Northern Illinois Big 12 West matchup with the Maple Leafs. The Lady Hubs lost by a score of 5-0 to drop to 0-3 on the season.

Senior Lila Roush won one game in a 1-6, 0-6 loss against Geneseo’s Allison Bowers at No. 1 singles while junior Caitlin McMurray took four games in her 3-6, 1-6 loss to Geneseo’s Emily Henson at No. 2 singles. Seniors Jasmine Rissman and Ashlynn Leininger earned two games in their 2-6, 0-6 loss at No. 1 doubles against Geneseo’s Emma Dunker and Mary Thomas.

Junior Ruth Gardner and freshman MeLisa Young lost 0-6, 0-6 at No. 2 doubles against Geneseo’s Alli Miller and Ava Bieneman. Sophomore Melanie Gonzalez and freshman Josie Lundquist won one game in a 0-6, 1-6 loss to Geneseo’s Ali Craig and Kaitly Webster.

Geneseo won the junior varsity match over Rochelle by a score of 5-0. Mindy Pelayo (0-6, 0-6) and Txell Samaranch (0-6, 2-6) lost at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Emma Hicks and Jordin Dickey lost 0-6, 0-6 at No. 1 doubles while Riley Flanagan and Anna Guevara won one game in a 0-6, 1-6 loss at No. 2 doubles.

Alyssa Mickley and Sawyer McGee took two games in their 0-6, 2-6 loss at No. 3 doubles.
